Staying safe from lightning inside your home

Lightning strikes millions of times each year. It is simply not safe to be outdoors during a thunderstorm. That is why the National Weather Service advises, “When thunder roars, go indoors.” However once inside a safe shelter, there are additional and important safety steps to take.

While staying inside reduces the risk for lightning strikes, lightning strike injuries do still occur indoors. Safe Electricity recommends the following tips to help keep you safe inside the home during a thunderstorm.

Valley REC to hold sixth annual golf tournament June 29

Golf clubs in a golf bag on a golf courseValley Rural Electric Cooperative will host a benefit golf tournament Thursday, June 29 at the Huntingdon Country Club, 10305 Raystown Road, Huntingdon, PA. The event is the sixth golf outing organized by Valley REC's Health and Wellness Committee, which has raised more than $83,000 for charities since 2010.

June Is National Safety Month

Unfortunately, safety can be taken for granted—until something goes wrong. Don't be caught off guard with electrical safety. June is National Safety Month and a good time to make electrical safety education a priority. Take an active role in learning all that you can to keep you and your loved ones safe.

Valley REC members elect three directors during annual meeting, learn about co-op’s electrical services offering

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Valley Rural Electric Cooperative members re-elected three incumbent directors to the co-op board during the 2017 annual meeting, held April 7 at Huntingdon Area High School. Co-op leaders also announced the launch of a new electrical services arm of the consumer-owned business.
