Valley Rural Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by the members it serves. This means that, each year, any revenue in excess of expenses is allocated to the members as capital credits based on their patronage. Capital credits represent your equity or ownership in the co-op.
As financial conditions permit, a portion of the capital credits may be retired and returned to the members of the cooperative. Over the years, Valley has returned over $22 million in capital credits to its membership.
Please be sure to keep the cooperative office informed about your current address, even if you no longer receive electricity from Valley REC, so that your check can be mailed to you each year.
