Valley Rural Electric is a cooperative, which means all members are part-owners of the business. Because of this, delinquent bills are an expense for all members.
To encourage members to be responsible and to carry their share of financial responsibility, the board has enacted the following policy.
Your bill is payable each month by the due date displayed on your bill. The amount due is payable until and including the due date listed. After that date, a late fee of 3 percent or $5 (whichever is greater) is added to the balance.
If your bill is unpaid by the due date, your service is subject to disconnection. If it is necessary for a cooperative employee to visit your property to collect payment, a $25 collection fee will be added for each trip.
For instance, if an employee visits your property in an attempt to collect payment, the fee will be added to the amount due whether or not the payment is collected. If a second trip is required to collect the payment, a second charge will be added, for a total of $50 in added collection fees.
If your service is disconnected, a $200 deposit, as well as disconnect and reconnect fees, will be required to restore service. See the Fees page for more information about these fees.
By paying your bills on time, you avoid these extra fees and help all cooperative members.
