Hello. I'm Rich Bauer, president and CEO of Valley Rural Electric Cooperative.
I'd like to provide you an update about what your co-op is doing to continue to meet the needs of members during the COVID-19 emergency. But first, on behalf of the board of directors and staff of Valley Rural Electric, I'd like to offer our best wishes for your health and safety during this challenging time. Working together, I am confident our cooperative community will get through this.
At Valley, we are staffing our offices, but at a reduced level, and with additional precautions - to lessen the likelihood of spreading the coronavirus among our employees and their families. Our lobbies remain closed to members and the public, but we are available to take your calls.
Our crews are prepared for outages and other emergencies. And we continue to coordinate with neighboring electric co-ops for mutual assistance, should it be needed.
We understand the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted normal work schedules for many people. Because of this, we are not currently disconnecting electric service to our members due to non-payment. If you anticipate difficulty making your monthly payment, please contact us.
Unfortunately, this challenging time also creates a new opportunity for telephone scammers. And we've had several reports of suspicious phone calls in our area.
Valley Rural Electric does not ask members to provide personal or financial information over the phone. If you receive such a call, hang up and then call us so we can alert other members.
At Valley Rural Electric, we're committed to maintaining the level of service and reliability our members have come to expect. Thank you for your kind attention. Stay safe and stay well.
